Tim Boychuk and the entire Happy Hour/NitroMoose Funny Car team had an opportunity to race at their home track and in front of many friends and family at Castrol Raceway during the Mopar Rocky Mountain Nationals event (July 14-16). That 15th annual event version was presented for the first time under NHRA sanctioning.
After a couple of chamber of commerce perfect days of weather on Friday and Saturday – unfortunately a finicky “mother nature” had other plans for Sunday’s elimination day – in the form of a major rainstorm which hit just prior to the start of Funny Car elimination. That development ultimately cancelled the event.
Prior to that Tim had made a couple of very nice laps during qualifying including a 5.919 secs at 244.30 mph which had them sitting 3rd on the list entering eliminations.
The team now heads out to Mission Raceway in BC for next weekends NHRA Lucas Oil National Open & Funny Car Spectacular event.
